Boden: Riviera Shirt Dress...Sexy?

Seriously pretty, but sexy?  Hmm.  I guess if you are French, maybe?

I have changed things up here at My Superfluities, and I promise the change does actually have something to do with Boden's super "sexy" Riviera Shirt Dress, but more on that in a mo.

I changed the blog background color (white, which I have discovered I prefer as a background, makes the text easier to read), the text font (needed to update from Times New Roman, you all, get all internet savvy), and the blog list (so many dead end links from the old one, yikes).  I also changed the header from me wearing a sassy gold J. Crew skirt, striped tank, and sunglasses to one where I am wearing the subject of this blog post, the fall 2012 version of the Riviera Shirt Dress.

I do plan on reviewing the current version of this dress, but I am going to do that when I have more time, for now I want to see if you agree with the French National Assembly, do you think this dress deserves wolf whistles?  If so, then you are in good company.

To see more on what I am talking about, check out The Sun's (UK) coverage of the French Housing Minister, Cecile Duflot, being subjected to cat calls and loud yells as she wore this during a recent speech in Paris.

I think Ms. Duflot does look incredibly lovely and it wonderfully suits her figure, but sexy?  I don't know.  Here in the US, this would be a dress that men would say, "you look so nice," but not so much, "oh, baby, I am taking you home!"

In all fairness, my brother and my husband both approved of the dress as I wore it in the header photo, but more on a "I like the way the dress looks on you," not in a "hubba hubba" way.  (That would have been especially disturbing coming from my bro.  Blah!  LOL.)

I have this dress in the same colorway as the Housing Minister (can't resist this shape!), and I wore it in this blog post, when I was going to my son's CATHOLIC school.  I think it is quite funny that what I considered quite modest for the visit was most definitely not by a bunch of French men.  ;)

Where to Find the Tiered Lace Cami, Outlet Style...

Ooh, you all were excited by this top! :) I received so many inquiries on how to find this cami that instead of answering all the e-mails and comments individually (which I normally would love to do--that said today has been crazy busy), I will just post the info here.

Interesting Quote from Sarah Palin's Book...

I bought my husband Sarah Palin's book for Christmas, which he was so excited to receive. (He has a little, tiny, eensy-weensy crush on the former governor of Alaska.)

Now, I know quite a few of you who read my blog ARE NOT fans of Sarah Palin, and that is fine, but my husband sent me a quote from the book regarding criticism. And it is a good quote for all of us who put ourselves out here in Blog-Land.

In the parentheses is the text of Mr. Dina's e-mail to me...her quote is in quotation marks inside of the text of the e-mail...

Okay, I will say something, I will do something, I will be something. I would rather be criticized in my life than do nothing.

I know that technically the quote is from Aristotle, but the message is still pretty awesome. And I am sure some of you have heard this before, but come on, a reminder is still a good thing, right?

Okay, I had to do it...This Blog is NOT Your VERBAL TRASHCAN!

They need me to be my best...and I am not my best when I am sad...

I was the free-est of free in regards to comments. I never said "no" to anonymous comments because I have learned a lot through all comments, not just from my "blog friends."

But I received a fairly mean-spirited comment tonight which makes me want to stop blogging all together. (And it takes a lot to get me riled up.)

I did NOT start this blog at all to pretend I was anything other than me. I am not fashion-forward. I am in love with clothes, but I don't ever think the clothing I love is the epitome of fashionable. For crying out loud, I actually adore some of those amazingly outrageous Partridge Family prints from the 1970s. I know those are nowhere near fashionable.

I also accept that what I wear on my body may not suit me most days, but I am trying.

This blog was started to be a blog about what I have in OVERABUNDANCE in my life right now. Most days, that is whatever clothing concoction I have come up with...good, okay, or even (and I have laughed at myself for some of these) bad.

I think I need to take a break. If I come back, I think I will slowly get back into posting what I wear again. (And I think, no I know, I had some that actually looked really nice on me...and may have actually benefited some of you.)

I will most likely come back...but I will start small, blogging about mid-century architecture, my beautiful kids, my love of my life as a stay-at-home mom.

I do not want to be sad. My kids need the best mom I can be, and the best mom I can be is one who takes a break when she needs to...and that is starting right now.
