Indigo Floral Frances Cami (Try Saying that Three Times Fast)...

Oh, you all. Glad to be back to blogging. SMILE. :)

Yesterday I had a root canal. And I am not done. How many of you knew that a root canal is sometimes a four-part process? (Slastena, you do not count as you are the queen of all things teeth...LOL!) I just finished part one, in other words, the actual cleaning of the root canals. No, I will not explain what actually happens (ewwww), but it isn't fun. I now have to look forward to:
1) they fill in my root canals with a special substance made from tropical trees (no, not kidding)...
2) they place a "fake" crown on my tooth for a few weeks...
and finally,
3) they place the permanent crown on my tooth.

I will be done with this all by late September. Yes, late September. As in one and a half months from now. Woo-hoo!

Add to that the fun of a mid-August MRI and yay, Dina, we should consider naming August the month of "Health!" Any other fun procedures out there for me to try? (I will bite the person who says colonoscopy. Ha.)

Alright, let's move on to fun things! FASHION! :)

This is the Indigo Floral Frances Cami I bought from the outlet about a month ago. My man Greg pulled it for me in a size 4 and I fell. in. love. I already adore the Frances Cami (so versatile, love it in the summer by itself and swoon over it in the cooler months with a jacket or cardi).

I hope you all know who my man Greg is. He is the 100% awesome, fab, chill man in charge over at the Potomac Mills outlet. Okay, he may not be THE big boss man, but he is #1 in my heart--retail heart, we know Mr. Dina is #1 in my bigger, squishy, big ole hole in the heart, HEART--off track, come back now...that said GO SEE GREG if you are in this area, he is very very good at what he does. (And what else has he done to help silly ole me? You shall see in a later post. Promise!)

Okay, so I have no idea if you local outlet will carry this lovely top anymore but it is worth a call if you like it. I think I got it for around 20 dollars after clearance and any additional discounts were applied.

And this photo is only for those of you who have some desire to see the whole outfit. IMO, the top makes it and the rest is a bit of fluff. (Except baby CW who is way WAY WAY more than fluff...what exactly she is doing back there, I have no clue, but I can tell you it isn't cleaning. Ha.)

Sizes:
Pants: Cropped Seersucker Zipper Pant, Size 8. Could have sized down, but I don't really care if they are loose. It's summertime and the size 8 was SO COMFORTABLE. And the zippers, while WACKY, take Southern Preppy to a whole new level. (What level? I don't know...it just does.)
Shoes: Ann Taylor Loft (just can't call it the Loft--likewise, still call KFC Kentucky Fried Chicken), Size 9.

Have a nice night all. Talk soon!

P.S. One thing...my doc says I can't eat any "real" food for 8 days. I am only allowed smoothies, baby food, shakes, and the like. I have "eaten" maybe 750 calories today, and topped with a glass of wine (thank GOODNESS that is not verboten) I am a little "happy." So if I seem a little odd, blame the lack of "eating" and the overabundance of "drinking." LOL.

Ooh...Party Time!!!

I went to two parties (well, three, but two were on the same day) last week. I have two different party outfits for you all to glance at.

But first things first!!! These two outfits are interesting because one of them my husband really LOVED and the other one he really HATED. What cracks me up is that my brother really, really LOVED the one my husband hated. Heehee. So if any of you ladies want my bro, I guess you know which outfit to wear when you meet him. HILARIOUS. However, if you really want a kind of nerdy, shy, yet sweet guy, definitely do not wear what I wore that he HATED. ;)

So why did I wear the outfit he hated? Umm...we have been married a LONG time and well, most of my outfits he loves. Also, he has questionable fashion sense. For instance, the last outfit he really disliked (here), you all LOVED. So, honestly, I can't always dress the way he likes.

Here is the Polyvore of the outfit he loved. Honestly, I love this outfit, too. I am a HUGE fan of seersucker. If you live anywhere near where it gets as sweltering hot and humid as it does here in Northern Virginia (well, anywhere in Virginia, really)...you should own seersucker. It is a great fabric for being dressy but not killing yourself with wool (hello, heatstroke)!

So I wore it with a linen sweater (bought off JCA--awesome transaction, btw) and it was the PERFECT combo for that night. Last Thursday night wasn't too hot so I could get away with this look. If it had been hotter, I would have worn a cami (like my victoria or bria or lydia) instead.

This green is insane...it is Kermit the frog, for sure. Fine by me...the brighter the better...however, this is a sweater from last summer so it isn't available except through ebay or the great exchange over at JCA.

Here is the suit with the blazer. Yes, I did have to take it off because it did get to warm, but oh, well.

Just so you know, the total cost of this suit was 70 dollars. This is a Merona Collection suit (from Target) and it is really, really well made. I think J. Crew has competition! I bought the blazer in an 8 and the pants in a 10. The pants sit fairly high on the waist so keep that in mind when you order (if you order).

Ooh, Mr. Dina HATED this outfit. A lot. He says he just doesn't get why I would want to wear something that froofy. I know why...because it is fun. Saturday was SWELTERING. This outfit allowed me to stay cool and yet be somewhat dressed up for the parties (one for a Ph.D. grad and one for my bro with his Associate Degree). This is the outfit Pete (my bro) LOVED. Girls, stat, to J. Crew now. Skirt is on sale. ;)

I will admit to being a bit stuck on what top to wear with this bottom. I like the way I styled it (even if I look a bit 80s...yes, haters, I know...I know). So I am gonna throw it out there...keep in mind I have a short torso...what would you pair this with? I think the next time I wear it (yes, Mr. Dina, it is coming out to play again) I will pair it with a fitted polo shirt. Does that sound cute? What other ideas are out there?

Does anyone have any interest in creating polyvores for this? I would love to see the ideas in that format, too! (I know I am asking a lot but some of you all love this stuff...) Thank you in advance!

I only did a close-up because I wanted to show off the coolest sunglasses in the world. These are made by Boden. I love them so much that I actually have them in a green horn color, too. These that I am wearing are the light brown and they are perfect for spring and early summer. The tint is a medium tint so they still allow you to see pretty well (I hate too dark sunglasses). The case it comes in is very practical (read: big and bulky), but practical is better than ruined sunglasses.

The green horn color comes in a different tint, a darker tint, better in my opinion for the pool and the beach.

That's all for now...

Oh, by the way, this dress is now sold out. I am keeping the post up, though, because the exchange between HeidiG. and Drewablank cracked me up.

Have a great Memorial Day weekend. Computer is coming with me down to my vacation spot, so you will get more from me (hopefully)!

Cerise Bistro Pants...A Bright for a Bright Day!

So I decided that I would wear more color than I did yesterday, and hoo-boy, these pants certainly fit the bill (wait for it--the color is coming).

The look I created includes: The Bistro Pants in Cerise (J. Crew 2009), Zoey Whisper Lame top in champagne (J. Crew winter 2008), Allesia Peep-Toe Heels in root (J. Crew winter 2008), Seersucker Jacket in tan/metallic (Banana Republic sometime in 2006), a Fossil Watch, the ladybug yellow necklace, and a mohair muffler scarf in ivory.

The link to the polyvore is here: http://www.polyvore.com/cerise_bistro_pants...bright_for_bright/set?id=7158069

No, you do not need to adjust your computer...the pants are that bright. The color is so delicious, though, like a beautiful ripe tomato in summer. With the flash, the color appears even more saturated. Also, I should mention, these pants are so comfortable, and with heels, they are the perfect length!!!

I went for a more subtle look with the heels, top, and jacket. The necklace is a punch of color for my face, but is not too much color (because then I would look like a clown--yeah, that's the look for me).

The reason my hair looks stupid? I had just washed it and it is still wet...don't worry, it dried fairly soon (and no, I never blow-dry, pool does enough damage to my hair)!

I think I may want to try another top with these pants...any suggestions? I love the look I created but don't want to be limited to just this top.

I am glad these pants are this color. I cannot wear this color anywhere near my face...outside of purple, this is the worst color for me. However, they look great as pants. In fact, a male teacher at my school said he really liked my pants! How sweet! Usually it is only the women who notice my outfits.

Here is the outfit without the jacket. I actually like it better without the jacket, but I knew I had to wear something over top (it was only 40 degrees outside when I left for school).

By the way, I reviewed these pants and more in this post: http://mysuperfluities.blogspot.com/2009/02/pants-pants-and-more-pants.html
