And Because Timing is EVERYTHING...

I have been backlogged on getting comments written to all of you AWESOME readers, but I will assure you that I read them all and will respond, because that is my thing.

But in some stroke of absolute serendipity, I decided to wear my sage colored Frances cami last night to go out (we needed to get CW's passport photos done and eat at an Indian place we just LOVE) and today, Chanel Fashionista asked me if I could talk about the sage colored Frances cami...awesome!

It was so freaking humid (air feels like it is sitting on you...really) that I figured that if the Frances cami needs a steaming, then what is better than good ole Virginia swamp air in August?

Well, it turns out that even seriously crazy humidity isn't able to getting rid of J. Crew wrinkles...or maybe crewrinkles...the wrinkles that only come out when you take your very new blouse or dress to the dry cleaners (you like, Gigiofca?)...the brand of wrinkles that no other company besides J. Crew is capable of making (and my Boden stuff comes from England...whatcha think of them apples, Mr. Drexler?)...

Nuff said...you know the blouse will be wrinkled...here goes the review:

On me, close-up. I did buy a Petite 8 because of my crazy short torso, and it fits perfectly in length, and in width. The ruffles down the front are just enough fussy for me to feel all female (go alliteration), and the cami styling makes this a winner for the heat but is thin enough to wear under a jacket.

This is a fairly pale color for me, but since it matches my eye color almost exactly, I figure I can get away with it. Normally I need to stay away from the pastels.

As Chanel Fashionista rightly pointed out, I did also buy this in a rose color (which is more of a flattering hue on me).
I look forward to this being wrinkle-free...it was fine for slumming around town last night, but I will NEED it to be pressed for nicer outings.

I obviously went REALLY casual last night. I also like to match my vehicle. ;)

If you would like to purchase it, here is where you can find it!

Hope that helped, Chanel Fashionista.

P.S.: MissMasala: The shoes I wore with the purple Saturday dress in this post are J. Crew Magdalene Strappy Sandals. I believe they are sold out. I bought them in a size 9 (one size smaller than I normally wear) off ebay. They fit perfectly. :)

Dina,
I love this on you! It looks way better on you than it did on me. You can definitely get away with the color! And I love "crewrinkles", it's true, I spend too much time ironing and may be investing in a steamer soon to battle my favorite jcrew blouses!!

You cracked me up with the alliteration, that's a lot of Fs in one sentence...nice job ;)

Goodness sakes -- the wrinkles! I just bought mine (in dark slate) this afternoon. I figured may as well get from the store while it's already hanging -- maybe less wrinkles! You look great in that color! I hope my Frances works out nearly so well. :)

Now that color looks good on you too! You can really pull off a variety of colors and look fantastic! Obviously SAHM is agreeing with you. :)

It is a darling cami, but I can't believe the wrinkles are so sneaky! Mr. Mickey should do something about that! I don't know if this would make a difference, but instead of taking all those silk tops (like the victoria ruffle and gladiola camis) to the dry cleaner, I actually just wash them at home - they come out really well and then I just freshen them up with a steamer! It couldn't hurt to try it! :)

Hi Dina! Yes, I do go to the SP JC store. There are maybe 4 or 5 associates who know me, and are always helpful. You are right about the rest - they are rather distant.

Yes, the tiered top was quite crewinkled - I love your word! In the new catalog there are several colors of the "silk tiered cami" top - autumn sun (looks like a sunny yellow), bright papaya (from the look book, and my blog) toffee (a golden color), antique stone (also on my blog), black and the deep aubergine. And in the catalog photos it doesn't look as wrinkled as it was IRL. I still love it, and will probably get it later (too busy this week to think about clothes with the upcoming college move! I also am taking youngest DD to visit College of William and Mary tomorrow, as well as hit the Wmsbrg. outlets. It's a crazy time around here.
I don 't think I'll be making it to the event Sunday at this rate - I have to get out of the house super early the next 3 days in a row! Hoping DH is still going your way next week or soon --- I will email you when I know for sure. Love your outfit on todays post!!! So cute!

I love this top on you!! You always look so beautiful in this style of the J Crew blouses. The wrinkles are annoying. When I used to open the stock boxes at J Crew (when I worked there, not as a crazy customer, haha) they used to purposely ship the clothes to the store twisted up to give them the wrinkled affect. I hope their aren't starting to do this with customer orders.

The wrinkles - bah!!! Hate them. Such a pain, and you know how much I hate to iron. Love the cami on you - it is much lighter than your usual colorful self, but it's quite flattering.

I need to get a steamer one of these days. Now, I just use the Downy wrinkle reducer spray - it's like magic, but you really can't use it on silk, or I would be afraid to.

Did you buy the sage Francis in store? This was the one color I really wanted, but my store didn't have it.

ohh thanks! it's definitely lighter than I thought, but still very pretty!

Julia: This color is a weird one...very pretty to look at, but a hard one for so many to wear...I even think that I have to be careful with my makeup so I don't appear to ghostly. :) I also plan on continuing my alliteration...it is one of my favorite ways of expressing myself.

Patina: Thank you so much. Golly, I wish I was one of those super woman who can raise kids, do the chores, blog, and iron. ;) So your compliment makes me feel great!

Rats on Parade: Thank you...how do you like the slate? Have you worn it yet? I think I could actually wear the sage frances with my slate featherweight cashmere short-sleeve cardi...I think that color combo would be exquisite!

Kathy: Thank you! I think SAHM is definitely working to my advantage...but I will admit to spending a LOT of time at the gym...otherwise I might end up atrophying from all the sitting on the couch I have to do because CW has to be held for like oh, 20 hours of a 24 hour day. :) Not that I am complaining...

GingerSnap: I definitely need to get a steamer. I take really good care of my silk, so I don't NEED to take them to the dry cleaners...just a freshen up in between wearings. Hmmm...

Suzy: Thanks for the info...I am receiving the papaya in the mail soon...and I am trying on the other colors tomorrow, provided they have them at Tysons. I am sad that you probably can't make it, but I am definitely up for hanging out next week...just let me know! :)

Summerilla: Thank you...who would have thought it? Not me...high collars? But every SINGLE time I wear them, I receive compliments. As far as the intentionallly wrinkled look, yeah, I remember receiving a lot of items in the mail that came with a card that said "rumpled for that special look..." or whatever. Okay, well, if that's your thing, J. Crew...

HeidiG.: I notice you are jumping into the "bright" brigade and I am joining in on the "pastel" parade. :) Maybe we are just feeling some ennui with our current wardrobe. Heehee.

jcbellemarie: Thank you...my eyes are a weird combo color of blue, grey, and yellow...but the yellow and blue when seen from kind of far away make my eyes look green. I always wanted to have bottle green eyes but I think everyone always wants want they don't have. :) My brother has AMAZING cat eyes and he hated them, well now he LOVES them because my daughter has his eye color and he just loves sharing that with her. Too funny!

MCC: I ordered this on-line. I rarely get to the store. Sadly! Good luck...hope you find one!

ChanelFashionista: It is a fairly pale color...which is too bad really, as I believe a more saturated color would have suited more people!
