Boden's Fun Skirt, Part Three!!!

Hi! I am substituting today, so I can write a long essay on what I am wearing, but I can at least give you the details! BTW, last night's outfit was awesome, and I cannot wait to do a post on it, but I wanted to include a mini-review on the sequin scarf cardigan in black and I don't want to do a rush job so I am going to wait to publish that (hopefully tonight).

Fun Skirt for a Fun Day!!! by dinagideon featuring J Crew

This is the polyvore of the outfit I am wearing today to substitute. It is a lot of fun (hence the name of the skirt) and it is warm enough for the chill we have here in the air. Oh, it is also insanely comfortable. This is the THIRD time you have seen me in it. I wore it first here in the spring, and the second time I wore it here in the summer. :)

Here I am wearing it. The information on the pieces are in the polyvore, but the sizes are: Tee: Size Small; Cardigan: Size Medium; Skirt: UK Size 14 Long; Shoes: 10. Puffer Vest isn't shown, but I wear it in a Size small.

I think baby CW looks DARLING here. Gaw. I love that even when I am teaching I can see her...makes taking photos of my outfits worth it way more when I can get her in the shot.

Rex is not in this photo because the poor dear now has what CW had...ugh. Poor Mr. Dina had wanted to take the kids to the sitter, but instead had to stay home to take care of them instead. Sigh. (Honestly, though, I bet a little part of him is pleased...those kids are a lot of fun, even when they aren't feeling well!)

Seems Boden is the J. Crew of the U.K.--(Or So Says this Article...)

Even dinagideon isn't this daring...

Because I always have time on my hands (I seem to hold CW a lot these days...btw, she is feeling a bit better), I need to keep myself occupied, yet have something to keep me amused while my little ones sleep or eat or whatever. So I do really random searches in Google Images on clothing I own. Yes, I just admitted that. I like to see what other people look like in my clothing, and I am always on the hunt for more images to clip to polyvore.

Tonight, I searched "fun skirt Boden" over at Google Images, and lo and behold, I found the image at the top of this post.

But it got even better...this lady is a journalist over at Britain's Daily Mail, and she wrote an article about HOW INSANELY POPULAR Boden is with a certain set of women (even elevating what they do to a cult--love it)...women who get onto mumsnet and figure out how to meet up and shop for Boden, or talk about Boden, or talk about when Boden is going to have a sale, etc. Hmm...sounds a whole lot like J. Crew Aficionada. Wow. So even though over here in the United States there are only a few of us diehard fans of Boden (and even less of us who actually blog about it), it seems we would be in good company across the Atlantic.

And I suspect they would adore us, too. After all, we know a few things about waiting with bated breath for a sale. Heehee.

My poor, poor CW. She has a fever of 101.4. (HeidiG., I was able to get it...finally!)

I had planned on going out with HeidiG. and have an awesome morning, but my little one wasn't having any of that. When I woke up this morning, she was hot to touch, so I said "no" to HeidiG. and stayed home.

Poor Rex, he LOVES going out. At least we got to play ball for a tiny bit in the backyard to sort of make up for it.

Emma Peacock Dress for a Casual Day!!! by dinagideon featuring J Crew

Instead I will show off a long ago outfit that I wore back in November. I really liked this outfit. I had always wanted the Emma dress in the peacock print, but could never justify the costs, so I put it off. Well, Mr. Ebay spoke my name back during the spring, and I bought it (and for a lot less than it originally cost).

Flattering Knitted Dress (Boden)--Perfect for a Winter Party!!!

I am continuing to try and post every single day the outfit I wear so I don't end up showing off outfits from months past. Starting tomorrow (Monday), I will begin to post two outfits a day (the day's outfit plus one from the past). I should be able to catch up again completely by the end of the month.

I hope I can publish my Mid-Century Mom tonight, but I am feeling pressed with family time (which is okay, that is the best kind of overextended you can have) and with getting my latest for sale stuff together for my Cash from My Closet, so it may be tomorrow before the latest Mid-Century Mom post gets published.

Flattering Knitted Dress for a Party!!! by dinagideon featuring Forever21 accessories

The polyvore for today's outfit is above. We were heading to a party today for a little girl turning 5...but it was NASTY outside, you know, 45 degrees and raining REALLY hard. So I knew I had to put something really warm, yet festive on...and this is what I found. The Boden dress is nice and toasty. I highly recommend it. I would say go up one size from your normal size because it is a sweater dress, so I am wearing a UK 12R in it. It is kind of clingly.

Right now it is sold-out at Boden, but I have a feeling that after the holidays there may be some returns, so ladies, I am telling you...December 26 or 27, expect to see some popbacks over there. Also, an anonymous commenter pointed out that if you go to the UK site, you can still see the reviews for the products, very helpful indeed. I haven't really examined the UK site to see what is over there (the prices send me into shock...so expensive to me if you do the exchange rate), but it is worth a look. Boden has done this before...the reviews will disappear for a few weeks when the items first go on sale and then reappear!!! It is bizarre.

Boden's Ruched Waist Shift Dress in Real Life and My Inspiration!!!

I teased you all a bit on Friday, showing off a hint of this outfit, but not really showing it off. I figured you all needed the coat review more. But then I received a couple of comments that made me realize that some of you really appreciate my Boden reviews, too. So here you are...the Boden Ruched Waist Shift Dress!!!

Boden Ruched Waist Shift Dress Goes Out for the Evening! by dinagideon featuring J Crew

The polyvore is above. I also wore a headband by J. Crew, but couldn't figure out how to make it work in the polyvore, so I just left it out. :)


Dress: Boden, Ruched Waist Shift Dress, Size UK 12R (went with my hip size--go with your bigger measurement, be it hips, waist, or bust...this is a form-fitting dress), Charcoal Vintage Bouquet, Fall 2009. Currently on sale for $89.00.
Tights: DKNY, Control Top Fishnet Stockings, M/T size, Black. (Bought from TJ Maxx.)
Shoes: The long-dead, but much-missed company, Parade of Shoes, Mary Janes (Nadine style), Size 10, Black.
Headband: J. Crew, Satin Ribbon Headband, Olive, Fall 2009 (retail only).

I only ever buy Regular dresses from Boden. The talls are REALLY long in the torso, and since I have a short torso, the regular dresses are a better fit. I always wear the Tall or Long length in their pants and skirts, though.

This dress is very nice...it has a soft fabric with the prettiest retro print. It also has a lining that is smooth and stretchy. The whole night I felt very "turned out," but never uncomfortable. Even when folding the laundry for my Mid-Century Mom project, I felt pretty good.

I do have one warning. The shoulder part is a bit tight, even on my slight shoulders. I would recommend that if you have broader shoulders, size up one so that you don't feel constricted.


I KNEW I wanted this dress when I saw it in the catalog. SWOON. Edda is one of my all-time favorite models, and she looked SO pretty here. The image was for the bag of all things, so I couldn't find this pic on their site, so I just photographed it to post here. I literally replicated this image (except the heels, I thought Mary Janes looked sweeter).

Stadium Cloth Winnie Coat (in Yellow) plus the Beaded Ribbon Front Top Equals Casual Confidence!!!

I promise I will get to the review of the ruched-waist dress from Boden, but I want that to be a stand-alone review, so I will either write it tonight or tomorrow morning. It appears it isn't close to selling out in the patterns (solids have been sold out for awhile).

Winnie Love + Bow Top=Perfect for a Saturday!!! by dinagideon featuring J Crew

Yay...I am on this whole "let's blog about my daily outfit thing" with startling regularity lately. Wooh! Above is the polyvore of the outfit I wore for our monthly visit to Bethesda, MD. We always head up there to go shopping, hair cuts, eating awesome food (either Indian at Haandi or Cajun at Louisiana Kitchen) and various sundried other things.

I will highlight the top and the Winnie Coat today, because it seems to me you all might need a review on those more than on the Jackie Cardi (my first!!!) and the boyfriend chinos. :)


Cardigan: J. Crew, Jackie Cardigan, Dried Orchid, Size Small, Winter 2009.
Top: J. Crew Collection, Beaded Ribbon Front Top, Antique Stone, Size 6, Fall 2009. Totally sold-out, but may be worth a check for a pop-back. Great sale price for what it is, so I would jump on it if it pops back in your size. I bought it full price (but with some sort of discount).
Pants: J. Crew, Broken-in Boyfriend Chinos, Khaki, Size 8, Fall 2009.
Shoes: J. Crew, Montebello Driving Mocs, Toffee, Size 9, Fall 2009.
Earrings: (Ann Taylor) Loft, Sparkly Earrings, Sparkly Color, Summer 2009.

The whole outfit was so comfortable...the only time I worried or fretted at all was when we were eating Indian food. I went ahead and buttoned-up the cardigan and then layered a napkin on top of it to make sure that no yummy food ended up on that gorgeous top. But when I was getting my pedicure, I was able to show off its loveliness. (I want this top to be a piece I wear a lot, even if it is "special.")

The silk in the top is very similar to my Cecelia dress, so it is substantial...and the beading is very tight and well-done. It is a collection item, so that might be why, but who knows?

I am wearing my regular cami size in this top. Check out Ema and gigiofca in theirs.

I don't know that I can wear this top by itself because the antique stone is a bit pale on me, but I think it looks so pretty layered with the Jackie cardigan in dried orchid.

I had never purchased a Jackie Cardigan before because the times I tried it on in the store, I would try on a medium, and the shoulders were a bit wide on me, so I just assumed the Jackie wasn't my girl. But on a whim, and at a wonderful price of $37.50, I decided to take the plunge with this color and a smaller size. Yay! (Normally, I wear a medium in cardigans.)

If you have thin feet, and would like to wear the montebello driving mocs, please try a whole size smaller. I am now getting to the point where I won't buy a size 10 in J. Crew shoes because they fall off way too often...so I get a size smaller and then it fits fine width-wise, and the fabric then stretches a bit to accommodate me in length. Anyone else noticing a change in J. Crew sizing in shoes???


Coat: J. Crew, Stadium-Cloth Winnie Coat, Bumblebee Yellow (maybe???), but is actually Butternet Yellow...I prefer my Bumblebee version more, Size 4, Fall 2009. This was my favorite purchase made at the Arden Clearance Center, NC. Yay!!! There are no more coats in this color on-line, but there are a couple in navy still available.

The warmth factor is high in this coat, what with it being stadium-cloth, but I like that its shorter length is perfect for days when you don't need to be SUPER-covered up. The color is just that bright in person, and honestly, you could see me coming for miles amongst the sea of black and navy at the Post Office, but well, there you go! :) The sizing doesn't surprise me much. My hips are what make me a 6 or an 8 in tops. If the top is short enough, I wear a 4. This coat grazes my hips, so the 4 worked very well. The other thing I love? The sleeve length is REALLY long, and it is RARE for me to find a top that fits my short torso AND my sleeve length. So yippee, J. Crew...
