Grey, Cerise, and White on a Spring Day; Plus a Quick Review of the Featherweight Cashmere Short-Sleeve Cardigan!!!

Cerise, White, and Grey for a Spring Day!!!
Cerise, White, and Grey for a Spring Day!!! by dinagideon featuring J Crew sweaters

Yesterday, over at J. Crew Aficionada, there was a JCA who asked about the featherweight cashmere short-sleeve cardigan. Many of you know that I just LOVE this cardigan. I currently own it in slate and in misty lavender (and if it goes on further sale, maybe spicy olive or melon). I thought, you know I need to wear the darn cardigan so people can see just how awesome the piece is...hence my outfit today. I wore it in the slate color today. The review is at the very bottom of this post.

It was cool enough for me to wear it. Anything above 72 degrees and the sweaters go away. I run VERY hot and even something this light would kill me in a very little amount of time in a classroom setting.

My polyvore is not 100% accurate. The pants are the same, but the tee and shoes a wee bit different.

The other pieces are the cerise Bistro pants from winter 2008 (J. Crew); the French Market tee with the pig on it from summer 2007 (J. Crew); and some peep-toe pumps in a slate grey from Nine West last winter (2007).

Here is the outfit, full-length. The pants keep getting looser and looser. YAY! Love it. That color still shocks me on how bright it is. Wow. I only get compliments when I wear them, so I must wear them well, but still...Can someone say "TOMATO?" The grey cardigan was chosen for two reasons: 1. I obviously wanted to review the piece today; and 2. It definitely helped tone down the overall outfit and it happens to match the shoes perfectly!

So the cardigan itself. You can buy it here from jcrew.com or from your local store (most seem to carry it). The cardigan is one of my favorite J. Crew pieces because: 1. I love the cashmere they used in it...so soft...may be the softest I have felt from them; 2. The overall shape is so pretty and feminine...I mean I don't see a bunch of men running around in short-sleeve cardis, do you?; 3. The ruffles that edge the placket and the sleeve openings are so sweet but without being exhaustingly twee; 4. The colors this cardigan comes in are so very pretty, even something as potentially dull as grey; and 5. I love the crystal buttons, so gorgeous and unexpected.

I hope this helps some of you. I bought a medium because I like to be able to have some wiggle-room...I don't like my cardigans to be too tight. (Plus, more cashmere means just that, more cashmere...mmm...so soft!)

Oh, look at my teeth...so shiny, polished, and flossed. Hmm...maybe I do actually practice good dental hygiene. What do you know? ;) (If you don't get what this sentence means, then just ignore it...if you do, just smile or chuckle to yourself.)

The short sleeve cardigan looks great on you!!! :) For some reason- they never seem to work for me- I always look weird in them, so I end up wearing a button down or the like underneath.

Wow! You all loved this outfit...definitely will have to bear this style in mind...and re-do it again!

sparrowsandsparkles: I was a little freaked out that the grey and red would look weird but it works somehow. Hmm...

Gigiofca: Yeah, these pants are almost infamous here where I teach. ;) There used to be this guy that would go running in a park near where I grew up and he always wore purple sweatpants. So my b-friend and I called him purple pants man. I wonder if I will become red pants superwoman or something. (Laughter...)

A cheery disposition: LOVE YOUR TAG NAME. SO CUTE!!! Thanks for coming on over...

Emily: Thank you so much!

Luvallthingsjcrew: Well, thank you...

FFM: Thank you times three. I hope you are feeling a bit better after your awful experience on Friday.

Suzy: Thank you for noticing. I love to smile. If I get wrinkles from it...so be it...I would rather have laugh lines than be a very sad, morose person.

Ashley (or Tony the Tiger): I think you are GRRRRRRREAT, too. Heehee.

Patina: I would love to see you in this kind of outfit. I think it is very flattering for a whole bunch of different women. These pants work well with all curves. They are like magic!

monogramgirl: Thank you. Did you end up with an okay weekend? It was the pits around here. Yucky, rainy, sad, and grey. I wore outfits to brighten up the place, but it still is hard. The kids are wild here today. Weather affects them badly, especially at the end of the school year when crunch time is on. Blegh. :) Oh, well, three weeks to go till Memorial Day.

Jemma Ruby: Well, aren't you just the sweetest? I think you look great, so to read that you think we have things in common is very flattering. BTW, I love that you report from where you are...I love learning about all sorts of different places. Also...I LOVE seeing the sunshine. You have way more where you live than where we live. Sigh. :)

HeidiG: Well, I am not the only one...someone with a name that begins with H and ends with G is also getting tiny! I think blogging keeps our hands away from food. :) Haha. (Although at the rate you post you will waste away to nothing in like a month.)

Spring Foward: Thank you. Definitely going to wear it or something like it again!

Cari: I know. I am stalking this cardi to see when it goes down in price in other colors. It is a winner in my book!

Alexis: Thank you for coming over!!! I hope you are feeling better. The people who post on your site are usually awesome, but man, this weekend, the psychos came out. Phew. I am glad you took a couple of days off.

I think I can wear these cardis because of my very thin arms. I have to highlight them so that people won't look at my "athletic" thighs or my "curvy" hips. (Smile.)

Have a great day, hon. We all really appreciate everything you do!

Sarah: Well, thank you so much!

hahahaha, I am sitting here commenting and eating homemade ice cream cake leftover from the weekend.

dinagideon said...

Heidi...non-fat ice cream cake doesn't count. Teehee. ;)

I look forward to your posts.

I will probably only post once today. Sadness. I wish blogging was my full-time job!

HeidiG said...

Oh honey, there is nothing fat free about this ice cream cake my friend Sylvia made!!! But it is yummy. I did have a salad for lunch (and a slice of pizza - but it was homemade by hubby last night, so not as big/caloric as usual deliver pizza).

Ah yes, would be so nice if this were our full-time jobs... I haven't gotten to posting today, I'm just reading everyone else's. See you Saturday for JCA tea?
