Sporty Stylish in Spearmint, Black, White, and Green!

Yay! So even after that atrocity of an "outfit" yesterday (thanks to all you ladies who said it was fine, we all can have a day off), I managed to put something together that was a bit more fashion-forward.

I am walking today, so it had to be friendly to that, but I think this was an overall winner. I call it sporty stylish because it feels very "Colorado ski-woman" or something (can you tell I have never been skiing?). Link to this polyvore is here: http://www.polyvore.com/sporty_stylish_in_spearmint_green/set?id=6977713

The sweater is the lovely spearmint Eva cashmere sweater by J. Crew. Before you worry to much, I made sure to wear an undershirt to protect its fabric from my sweating. (Not the cami that is pictured, but a lightweight tee I bought from Kohl's a few years ago.) The pants are my faves, the matchstick cords in black from J. Crew this winter (2008). The vest is Kenneth Cole Reaction (bought off ebay). The shoes are Privo by Clarks (bought at TJMaxx) and are similar to the ones pictured in the polyvore set. The watch is fossil, but not the same exact one as in the set. The scarf is green, but by Benneton, and not what is in the set.

Joyce--I loved how you said in yesterday's comments that the outfit I wore wasn't too bad but that I was hard on it because I have an evolving style. I think you are right. I definitely feel that way--I just can't let myself slide in my appearance--and I don't think it is vanity. I think my desire stems out of multiple things, maybe I am a bit obsessive, maybe I need to prove my femininity (I was raised solely by my dad), or maybe I just need a project. Thank you for your astute comment.

Here it is without the vest. I am going to miss my hair being all sleek tomorrow. I have to wash it tonight, and I know I will have NO time to straighten it again for awhile. (Grades are due this week--interims, but still--PRESSURE.)

Vest on, ready to go! I have a Vera Bradley backpack I use when I walk...it is so pretty and colorful and fairly lightweight. It is the Medallion print (for those of you who care about Vera Bradley). I switch to the Petal Pink or Citrus for summer, and Peacock for spring (soon)!

I love Vera Bradley bags. I like them b/c they are lightweight and when I load them up they don't weigh a ton. I have almost given up leather bags altogether unless they are smaller ones. I have 3 backbacks. I love toastie style that was retired a while back and own 8 of them! My favorite:)

Great outfit. Love the vest - you do look sporty and stylish. I love that you walk to work (3 days a week?) I think it's great!!

That's funny. I was just getting ready to ask what you carried your things in while you walked. I like Vera B. too!

Haha you made me laugh inside when you said "Colorado ski-woman" was the style. Because I know what you mean, its a sporty girly style. I like your vest! Hope your walk was fun :)

Dina- I was lusti ng after Eva in a spearmint, ended up buying boyfriend cardi in that color. Looks gorgeous with your skin and hair, I am yet to see the color that does not look gorgeous on you. Honestly, you can wear anything and look positively radiant. Laughed about your ski comment. I am the same way, definitley, not a skier.

Love the spearmint color! And don't you just love Clarks? I don't have any Privos, but I tried some on once and they were some of the most comfortable shoes I'd ever worn. I really like their Indigo line too.

Good luck with grades this week! Ours are due today, and I'm having some issues squeezing them out of my student teacher--arg!

Anon @ 4:27: I don't remember the Toastie style...I will have to go look it up! You are so right about the way Vera Bradley feels...so lightweight...and such pretty patterns, as well. Some of the patterns are a touch crazy, but eh, gotta live a little. I will admit to buying a Andie Bag yesterday (J. Crew last summer). I normally won't buy leather, either, but this bag is worth the exception.

HeidiG: I do walk 2-3 times a week and now that the weather is getting nicer, I may actually up that! It is working...I have lost another pound...only 15 to go!

KatyO.: LOVE light spearmint. I only have a few things in that color...I hope J. Crew does it again and in summer styles (what a nice color for summer).

FFM: Thank you. I felt better yesterday about my outfit! :)

Beth: Yes, Vera Bradley backpacks all the way...I will defend them to the death with Stacy and Clinton on What Not to Wear. They hate vera bradley, but unless they have a nice, lightweight alternative for someone who walks as much as I do to and from work (with papers to grade and pumping equipment), then I don't want to hear it! :)

Mslay: I hope this means your computer is fixed! :)

Felt very sporty--very Western girl--glad that image made you laugh. I laughed, too, as this is so not me!

Slastena: I think we must look good in the same colors because I swear half of our outfits look like each other's. I never, ever buy purple or that blue-red color. I also shy away from black and true white. I look ghastly in those colors. I also notice you rarely wear those colors, either. :) I also saw someone make the comment on your blog that you always wear the best colors! I think I know what colors look good with my skin tone and I think you do, too! It took awhile, but I finally figured it out! (By the way, that Juniper color by J. Crew this season--SO PRETTY--but the worst color for me--so sad!)

AppGal: Thank you. I have grades due tomorrow, ugh. :) It will get done, and hopefully with enough time for me to post today! Good luck to you!

Cognitive dissonance is what I was trying to describe. You put together an outfit that probably was fine lat year, but your style is evolving and that look is no longer you (even though it's not a bad outfit). I'm glad you understood. Thanks for your kind words.

The toastie style is similar to some they have out now: i.e. Lola but it seemed to hold much more IMO.

I didn't know Stacy and Clinton don't like them but I am not surprised. I don't care either. I really like them. (I am not crazy over them like some people who go to the big sample sales, etc. but I do own a lot.) I like them b/c they are washable too. I have washed one of my black ones a lot and you cannot tell.

I get 2 or 3 new ones a year as a friend buys them for me as gifts. One of the ladies she works with has a sister that works for the company...she gets some deals that way:)

Sorry for the long post:)
