Friday, May 1, 2009...Dina Does Drinks with No Daughter or Son...

First thing I want to say is "thank you" to the wonderful anonymous commenter over at J. Crew Aficionada who mentioned my blog as one her (maybe his) blogs that she (or he) regularly visits because she (or he) like our positive attitudes. AWESOME!!! I was honored along with FFM, Slastena, Gigi, Heidi, and many others...I read that today (Tuesday, May 5, 2009) and I have been kind of sad these past few days (has something to do with Rex and his Bug Walks class that he is no longer a part of) and seeing this comment totally brightened my day.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
And now back to the show...

So my friend Barbara said we HAD to go and get margaritas on Friday night. I COMPLETELY agreed. Ask any teacher you know and they will all say Friday night IS the night to drink. Every teacher I know is just done by 3 pm on Friday.

I went home and changed into something fancy (or for me, fancy). You wouldn't have appreciated the Friday (day) look. Let's all say it together...LAME! ;)

However, my night look...AWESOME. I felt so good wearing this. I, along with many other bloggers (like Gigiofca and My Closet, My Baby, and I) fell in love with this tunic top. Of course, you know that I love this print. The Fresco print may be one of my favorites ever. Pink, Green, and Olive...perfect! The addition of embroidery makes this top even more special. And special it was...it originally sold for 150 dollars...eek! But I took my Mickey card out one night and purchased it (on sale for 89 dollars) for only 50 dollars (they also let me use my teacher discount...so sweet). I bought it in a size 8 because I wanted it to fit a bit loose...and I think it looks very nice this way. The pants are Ann Taylor Loft from a few years ago and the sandals are Aerosoles, also from a few years ago. No need for anything else...these three pieces are perfect together and require no accessories!

Here is a close-up of the gorgeous detailing. I think this blouse was a good price at 89 dollars, but you definitely can't beat 50!

By the way, I will polyvore this top tonight...if any of you purchase it...I should have it in my items soon!
Have a great afternoon!

You're very welcome, Dina. No matter what anyone said, even if I am living in a fantasy world on the computer, I enjoy very much looking at your and other JCAs photos and reading about the events in your lives! Thank you so much for sharing. I wish I had known about this tunic (saw it for the first time on Ema's blog), although I'm not sure I could pull it off. And the ruffled cami looks absolutely stunning on you. I hope you can post more pics from the Paris catalog soon! (Although I know you've said you are very busy . . . maybe you'll have more time when school is out). Happy cinco de mayo--hope more margaritas are in your future!

Yes, you wonderful Ladies keep it positive, even with anon posting! You create and maintain a positive atmosphere, thereby drawing and keeping a positive audience.

That is why my 'home base' is with you guys now, instead of JCA, which unfortunately is brought down by the owner's need to constantly create posts that she knows will be divisive and cause drama.

It just goes to show..... You attract what you are.

And you, Dina, Heidi, Slastena, ABC, etc... are positive, fun, and awesome!

I LOVELOVELOVE this top on you! LOVE! What am I saying? The entire outfit is smashing, darling. ;)

Good for you, getting drinks on Friday with your colleagues. I've been doing that, oh, lots since the new singlehood. But it really is good, it's a release, and it's a chance to get outside of our comfort zone. So... about your brother? ;) BWAHAHAHAHAHA! (Just kidding.)

So you go, Dina! :D

Cate: Thank you so much...love your blog, btw.

Anon @ 3:02: I love posting so much sometimes I wonder if I have some sort of illness (not the Swine flu, I hope). :) I promise, more Paris Catalog photos. They are all ready to go, but you are right...month of May, plus school teacher, plus mom equals craziness. I also want to photograph other catalogs, too.

Anon at 3:23: Well, thank you so much. There have been days (especially when I first started this blog) when an negative anon comment would make me so sad. I am sensitive and do you know that for weeks I went around freaked out about my hair? But then I stopped. One day I just stopped caring as much. You know why? Because I know that every day I am doing my very best to be the best person I can possibly be. And that is what really matters in the end.

As far as the JCA website, I know for a fact Alexis is not posting the drama comments. She has e-mailed me and is so sweet. Love her. I can't figure out what is going down over there. I know that I have seen a pattern though. It will be quiet and very positive at JCA and then for a few days it will get real negative. That is why if I even see a negative comment I think real hard if I want to join in on the conversation. Thank goodness the shoe conversation today has been a good one...lots of good advice, tips, sizing info, and even when something is said that is negative, it is a thoughtful negative. :)

You three have a great DAY! ;)

You come on down. :) My bro is getting real popular and has no idea.

I want to have drinks with you...I bet you are a HOOT to hang out with...

Thanks for the compliment...

Pardon me...I just realized what you wrote...I need to check my eyes. Alexis does create those posts and you are right--many of them get real dramatic, real fast. I sincerely doubt that is her intent, though. :) I just think sometimes it gets crazy!!! (You know how a party can start off real good but if you add too many people that have big personalities it starts to go downhill and fast--that is what some of these posts remind me of...smile.)

Dina, Although I stand behind my original comments, I think it may be a good idea to delete my post. The last thing I'd want to do is create drama here...especially after lecturing about drama, lol. It's up to you, but it might be a good idea. My apologies for 'going there'.

I won't delete...but, thank you...you rock! (Big Smile!!!)

I love this top Dina! One popped into my B&M last week in my size on clearance for 59.99...and sadly it was the day AFTER the red card expired. I'm still thinking I should have gotten it. Sigh.

Hi Dina, I don't think I've ever posted here yet, but have on Gigi's, KatyO's and Slastena's wonderful blogs. You do have such a great attitude like so many of the other JCAs who we can commiserate with for our indulgent love of all things J Crew and clothes in general. :)

I love how you paired the fresco tunic with white pants and bronze sandals - you look very chic. I passed on this in store though. It was in the sale rack last week and I thought I couldn't pull it off and that it would be too boxy. Now I really wish I had bothered to just try it on in the first place. C'est la vie.

Gigiofca: You did get a shout-out...I think it was in the post about either the student discount or the cards from J. Crew (which I did not receive for the record--a lot of speculation that they sent them to all bloggers--big no there, ladies).

I love this top on you...look forward to seeing it on you again...

Donna: Yes, get it if you can. The ones on ebay are really expensive. :) I will be on the lookout whenever I go to the mall...maybe there will be one in the weekly exchange...Good luck!

Ashley: Thank you! You love the fresco, too. Did you consider getting it?

JNJ: Now I am blushing...you are so sweet. I am glad you enjoy my blog...I just wish I had more time to update it! Soon! Very soon...cause it is almost summertime...

You know, I was worried about the boxiness too, but it turned out that the busy-ness of the neckline takes all of that boxiness away. I definitely can't do boxy, so this was such a joy to find!

Totally missed this post the other day. Thanks for the shout out above - i am honored to be included in this group! You all were the ones who inspired me to start!!

Love love love the tunic on you. Love love love the outfit - tres chic, madame! I tried the tunic on in store back when it was FP, but didn't love enough to pay that and they were out of my size when it was on sale, and it wasn't worth it to me to chase it down. I needed a full 10 because of the shoulders - as always. :) So thrilled for you that you got it on sale. I'll just hang out in my cheapie beaded shore tunic, I guess! Hehehe, maybe the next print will induce the hunter instinct in me.
