Reviews of the Tiered Vintage Fleur Top and the Mini Patent Campo Bag...

Anyone Want to Buy a Coat???
Anyone Want to Buy a Coat??? by dinagideon featuring J Crew

First off, some business: I have decided to add to my latest for sale offerings. These two coats could be yours. :) Check out my Cash from My Closet blog for more info.

Second, many thanks for all your positive comments about keeping my blog as is. That said, I have decided to at least incorporate some changes...more watermarks, review posts sticking to the business at hand, and personal posts more separate from the clothing-related posts (makes things more structured that way).

I really hated the thought of becoming fodder for those blogs whose only lease on life is to make fun of other bloggers. Hopefully that won't happen, but if it does, I AM ON RECORD (right now) saying how much I worked to avoid that from happening. ;)

Third, Ann commented on my last post that Boden's winter sale has begun! Yippee!!! Now...hmm...will what I want be around by the time I can start spending again???

Night Out to J. Crew...
Night Out to J. Crew... by dinagideon featuring J Crew

Okay, here goes. The polyvore of this outfit is above.

Jacket: Berry-trim Astrid jacket from the J. Crew Outlet, this fall 2009, size 4, black. It is almost identical to the one that J. Crew sold last fall. I really don't know how they are different. Does anyone know how they are different???
Top: Vintage Fleur Top, J. Crew, Winter 2009, size 8. This is a lot like the tiered cami but has embroidered flowers on the hem of each tier. This top is made very well. I have only one complaint, and I will get to that in the last photo. It is a J. Crew Collection piece. It appears to be sold-out on-line, but there are always popbacks.
Jeans: Ancient pair of Levi's that I just love. Size 10.
Shoes: Merona Collection Pink Heels that I fell in love with and blogged about in this post.
Bag: Mini Patent Campo Bag in Coconut. This holds just the right amount...wallet, phone, little makeup bag, keys, a small bottle or sippy cup, and a small book or calendar. It fits over my shoulder nicely (as long as I don't have a winter coat on), and is a comfortable feel in my hands when I choose not to place it over my shoulder. I paid full-price, minus some discount or another (I always wait for a discount), but it is on sale now, so lucky ladies...it can be yours for a very good price. :)

Another view for you all. Note that the Tiered Vintage Fleur Top has a silk ribbon sash. CDP--I swear I put a watermark on this image...where did it go??? I tell ya, I think I do something and then it just disappears.

Here is the Vintage Fleur Top by itself. My only beef with this is that the middle tier kind of poofs out (you can't see it here because my arm is covering it)...which means that I will have to nip it in with some thread and needle...easy enough fix, but irksome, nonetheless. I like the top on its own, but in my opinion, looks really good with a more structured jacket.

Did anyone else review either of these pieces? If so, could you put your link in the comments? I would be very grateful!

I love the fleur top with the berry jacket! Did it run TTS Dina?

The fleur top is a tts fit...I should have bought the 6 but none were available, hence my need to nip and tuck the one tier...but on the plus side, I can have a big meal in this outfit and not have to worry about being uncomfortable. LOL.

The jacket is tts, as well. (I have the chimera in a 4 and it fits exactly the same as the berry jacket!)

Thanks for coming on by!

Fine...just fine...keep rubbing in my face the fact that your skinny feet fit those cutie-pie pink heels...whatever... That's what I get for being almost totally absent from the blogosphere for the past week, I suppose.

Love the outfit. When I was at JC last Friday, a SA had on the fleur top with a black turtleneck layered underneath - it looked very cool.

Need to catch up soon!!

Dina - good effort on the watermarks! I was smiling before I saw your comment to me =)

You are making me want that fleur top. I saw it in-store and it seemed to have a yellowish cast to it so I didn't give it a second thought, but I don't see that in your pics. Very pretty.

Dina-I saw the top today in store and hanger does not do it justice. It looks simply divine on you and paired with Astrid it's just perfect! Great outfit!

On a sad note, I can't believe you are parting with the Stormy Tweed- I am such a fan of that coat. I even wore it when I was pregnant. But may be you are right, better to get smth that you will wear all the time vs having a pretty thing sitting idly in the closet. Still.. sigh...:)

HeidiG.: I am glad we got to catch up today! ;) Now, go do some watermarks of your own!

CDP: Smile!!! I am glad you recommended it...I now am remembering all the fuss some other bloggers had with ebay resellers...

Slastena: Thank you!!! In re: Stormy Tweed...I love it so, but I think I bought it too soon postpartum and now the shoulders and bust are far too large on me. But OH, the golden roses silk lining??? If I don't sell it, I can at least look at the pretty lining! (Or if I get pregnant again, use it as my maternity coat--love that the lower half has some give...)

You are super stylin' in this outfit! Wonderful.
How do you like the Chimera Jacket???

The vintage fleur looks cute on you! The berry astrid retail version looks like it had another row of berries going down the center/ more embellishment but very close! I'm totally looking forward to wearing it for the holidays with long gloves (darn those arm-shivering bracelet sleeves!)

glad to hear your blog will be staying the same-ish!

Can I just say in re; to the Anonymous' Comment that was less than positive...you've been down this road before with Anonymous' Comments...and I was sad to see that again you fretted and put sooo much energy into thinking about this. I'm sending you some thicker skin girl! Blog how you wanna blog and others can either like it or not--who cares!

Hey Dina, i love this outfit! The jacket with the top and jeans is so cute, and i love the touch of fun color from your shoes.

I got the tiered fleur top as soon as it came out because i loved the color and detail so much. Now i'm wondering if i should have sized down if yours is fitting too loosely and mine fits similarly.

The campo bag is beautiful! Is it very structured, pliable?

Yogagirl: I love the Chimera...are you saying that you would like me to do a post on it??? :) BTW, every time I have gone into J. Crew lately, one of the SAs are wearing it...must be a popular item!

Thanks for the thick skin...I am getting better...hey, I even stopped comments on my last post. I feel like I am making progress, slowly, but surely!

JCBelleMarie: Oh! That does sound a wee bit different, but not too measurable. :)

Ashley: I knew you would Love it. :) Of course, you are my style sister!

Pamela: Thank you, hon!!! I felt good, too...very comfy!

Cleo26: Maybe you and I need to have a sewing party...rein in those tiers a bit, you know???

The campo is structured, but not overly so, just enough to keep it fresh and crisp. You would like it, I am sure...but I am not enabling!

Dina,
Thanks for the Boden shipping reply. Not that great of deal on the item I want. Would have done a bit better maybe when they had free shipping AND free returns and the % off earlier in the season. I only save $8 currently on the item since I have to pay shipping and possibly pay for return. So will pass...

i like this look on you. nice pairing.

dinagideon said...

Gigiofca: Thank you so much...I also liked seeing it on Debye... :) I also returned the favor on the chimera jacket!

Yogagirl: Your wish is my command. ;)

Genny: That is too bad that the sale price isn't good enough...it sometimes does work like that, esp. on what they consider popular items...those never get the full 50% off until much later. Boo. Maybe you can ask Customer service if they will give you the courtesy if free shipping if you put it that way???

Elaine: Thank you! I love your blog, too cute! :) I definitely look forward to seeing what you put together in the future...

OneFashionistaDiva: Ooh, thank you! BTW, I linked to your Chimera jacket post in my post on that jacket today...very cool that you commented right when I was doing that!!!

The berry jacket looks great with the tiered top, would have never thought of that combination!

I did a dressing room review of it here:
