Boden: Autumn/Fall and Winter 2014 Press Day Images!

UPDATE (July 21, 2014): Some of the fall 2014 items have rolled out, including many of the below.  I have received a coupon from the people at the affiliate program.  You can find it below this first paragraph or in the sidebar of the blog if you need a coupon.  I will eventually be updating this post with proper links to the items that are available, so you can easily find the items you love below on the regular site.  :-)

UPDATE (July 22, 2014): I added direct links to the Boden site for the items that are available now.  Some of these items are autumn items that will be released in August, and as those get rolled out, I will update them then.  Some of these are winter items, and those won't be out until September (at the earliest), but again, once those are rolled out, I will update the post with the correct links.  The mini Boden items will be linked, as well, but that will be on the back burner for a couple of days until I can find more time.

Regarding this below coupon, you need to click through it to receive the 15% off with free shipping, but you need to spend more than $50 on current season items.  The links that are below will get you to the item page, but will erase this coupon's coding, so after taking a look-see round, you need to come back up here or go to the sidebar to reactivate the coupon.

Well, I knew that London would host the Press Day before NYC, but I couldn't remember which day.  Opening up the Boden FB page today I saw a lot of great images, and the kind people at the FB page prompted us to open up their Pinterest page for more.  And by more, they meant a gazillion.  I have saved quite a few of the images, but not all, so if you want to see more, definitely head over to their page and see them for yourself.

Where possible, I linked to any item available right now on the preview site.  From what I understand, mini Boden *will* be available for preorder, but not for a couple of days.  When it does come available on the Boden Preview site, I will make sure to update this post with the proper links.

Enjoy all these, and if you want to share your favorites, please do comment below!

The image above comes straight from the FB site, and is a compilation of three of the press images.  I have saved the far left outfit image, which you will see a bit later in this post.

The middle image showcases the Lottie Coat (here) and the Mary Jane (here).  The far right outfit showcases the Ledbury Pea Coat (here) and the Sixties Slingback (here).

Amy Dress (here).  I am sorely tempted by this dress.  Adorable, and made from all cotton, rather than *I shrink therefore I am* viscose. (PLEASE NO PENCIL SKIRT LINING, Mr. Boden!)

Autumn Trench (here).  Ooh, see, I didn't even notice this one until I saw the press images.  It is *very* hidden on the Preview site.  So cute.  Love the little birdies jauntily placed!

Eliza Coat (here).  Hi.  My name is dinagideon and I have a sickness.  A sickness for pink coats.  It is ridiculous that I want this coat, yet its over the top feminine shape and retro styling make me salivate.  Oh, you pink temptress you.

Pattern Sweater (here), Ledbury Pea Coat (here), and Brogued Chelsea Boot (here).  This outfit is very chic.  But the little British guards are very Boden, so yay for keeping true to the "fun."

Sophia Dress (apparently coming in August, though mine shipped in late July?).  This exists in the summer collection too (here) and is darling, but I am glad I waited since I think this version above will suit my needs more in the fall.  I definitely could see wearing this subbing next year.

Merino Crew Neck Sweater (here), Lois Skirt (here), and Flat T-Bar Point (here).  This outfit is great in execution, but I am not a huge fan of this color skirt with the sweater.  That said, it looks wonderful on the model.  :-)

Intarsia Plaid Sweater (here) and Lois Skirt (here).  You either love this or hate this.  I don't hate it completely, but I know if I wore this, Mr. White Tennis Shoes, aka Mr. Dina, would 100% give me the side eye.  I love the two pieces, but not together.  Not enough for me to give this beautiful model the side eye, though...

The Shirt (here) and Lois Skirt (here).  Neither of these is available in the Fall Preview, so either they haven't been put on the site yet, or these are for Winter 2014.  I originally thought the skirt may be the Notre Dame skirt, but this skirt is a different colorway and has pockets.  (Big thanks to blog friends CC and levbacon for pointing out what these two items were for me!!!)

Ingrid Coat and Harriet Dress (here).  The coat is exactly the same as my coat from last winter, except in a pretty blue shade.  At least I am pretty sure it is exactly the same.  :-)  The coat must be from the Winter preview, and not this fall.  The dress is available for preorder right now, though.

This image is from FB, btw, which is why the image quality is less awesome.  But who cares?  We still can see the pretty!

Ingrid Coat.  See, this is why I am really certain that the blue one in the last photo is the Ingrid Coat.  This one in gold definitely has the same darts (neck darting and french bust darting) as my version from last year (see my review of it here).  Not on the Autumn preview site, so will probably be available for preorder in a few months with the winter preview.

I am such a magpie I immediately saw these (the silver ones, not the black ones) and was all, "oh, yes, pretty please," but at the FB page a lot of women are repulsed.  LOL.  To each their own, yes?

I want to name them the Spangly Disco Pointed Ballet Flats, but I am sure Johnnie and co. will name them something more appropriate like the Elsa Flat (which would be appropriate since Elsa is the Ice Queen and could definitely rock these shoes).

Bird Inspired Items!  Here the are featuring the Easy Scoop Tunic (here), and the Pattern Sweater (here).  The boots and scarf (this color, anyhow) are not in the preview.

Animal Print Items!  These include the Jackie Heels (here), the Block Heel Slipper (here), the Lace Up (here), the Flat T-bar Point (here), the Printed Scarf (here), and the Bistro Pant (here).  The zip top clutch is not available in this version yet, but will likely be part of the Winter preview.

A look at the colors that inspired Boden for this fall and winter collection.  Very pretty.  Love the mushy peas, sprout, rosewater, and citrine color.  I am sure that surprises you all.  ;-)

Above is the story board photos of (from top to bottom) baby Boden boys, baby Boden girls, Johnnie b. boys, Johnnie b. girls, mini Boden boys, and mini Boden girls.

These items will eventually appear in the Fall Preview, and when they do I will update the photos with proper links.

There were a lot of mini Boden girls outfits over at the Pinterest page, but I only saved this one because those fox tights are just too sweet.  Very cute and must grab them for CW.  :-)

A closer look at the prints of mini Boden Fall 2014.  The hedgehog/squirrel print is precious!

Okay, that's it!!!  Remember to comment if you have something to say about the press day.  Also, if you are planning on preordering, remember to use the code H6G9 on your shopping bag page for 20% off with free ship and returns.

Talk soon!!!

OOTDs/Review: Santorini Amongst the Dandelions.

Day: Saturday, May 3, 2014.

Where: Baseball Game (Rex's not the National League--at least not yet!) followed by a trip to get Vietnamese sandwiches and then to Barnes and Noble.

Ease of Wear: (5 of 5 stars--5 being the most easy to wear.) Even with the higher-heeled sandals, this outfit is one of the easiest I have ever worn, hands down.  I am such a fan of the Santorini Sundress (here at Boden) that I am immediately going to pin this dress to my "Favorite Pieces from my Wardrobe" board.  I can see why this dress sold out almost immediately.  For more on the dress, I have written up a quickie review below.  The only issue I had was that my shoulders got burned, but that is MY fault...what kind of pale fool like me forgets sunscreen on a hot, sunny day?

Cool Factor: (4 of 5 stars--5 being the coolest--for both outfits.) I think it looks very interesting with its unique mid-century inspired print, plus it is a very flattering easy knit dress with a fitted bodice and slightly flared skirt.  My husband really really liked it on me.  :-)

Anecdote from the Day:  I was going to go out with my friend from high school, L., but at the last minute she had to cancel.  I was tempted to go to where we were headed anyway, but I was all, "meh."  LOL.  So. not. motivated.

Santorini Sundress.  Size 6L.  I didn't even know this was part of the first summer rollout (came out with the Nancy dress) until I was looking around and then realized I hadn't seen it before.  I was very intrigued by the print, but when I opened up the page, I saw that the 6L was LONG gone.  Sadness.  I immediately started wondering how I could recreate this dress on my sewing machine, but I was really hung up on the fabric, so even though I *probably* could sew this up, I am happy to not have had to, since I think the fabric is very special.

It fits precisely as it should, and even features darting at the bustline for shaping, which is not always something found in jersey garments.  The pockets are also very handy and I found myself sticking my hands in them all day.

It was hot out, but the breeze would catch the skirt and give me some *subtle* air conditioning, which is a big bonus here in DC, now that summer is very close (summers in DC--always brutal).

I think if you can grab this one, and you think it would suit you, it would be money well spent.  I had no problem buying this with the 15% off coupon.  No regrets!

Santorini Sundress
Santorini Sundress.  A lot of the sizes and colors have sold out, but watch for popbacks.

Day: Saturday, April 26, 2014.

Where: Rex's baseball game (connection to the first outfit!), meeting my good blog friend Leslie in Old Town, and the walking SIX miles home from Old Town.  SIX miles.  :-)  It felt good!

Ease of Wear: (4.5 of 5 stars--5 being the most easy to wear.) Since I knew I would be walking home from Old Town, and I knew it would involve sun, some heat, and a few uphills, I decided comfort was key, even if I really wanted to wear something more pretty and unique to show off to Leslie.  This was the first time I was going to be meeting her, and even though I suspected had I worn a burlap sack she would have still liked me, I really wanted to look good, ya know?  In the end, I decided to go halfsies...wear the cool sweatshirt from the Neiman Marcus/Target collab...do my hair up in a functional yet kind of pretty style...and wear the sneakers that will help on the six mile walk, but also look *fly*.

I ended up getting pretty hot, but fair skinned me wasn't about to take off the sweatshirt for fear of burning.  I did drink all the water and green tea I had in my bag on the walk home to stay cool, though.

Cool Factor: (3.5 of 5 stars--5 being the coolest--for both outfits.) Pretty cool.  The sneakers are actually pretty old, but that retro style Nike is staying popular (although these aren't nearly as retro as my green kicks).  The short in front, longer in back sweatshirt look may be on the way out, but it still works, trend-wise, especially if you are a SAHM on a very long weekend walk.  ;-)

Anecdote from the Day:  Leslie wrote up a nice description of the day at her blog, Pink Tulips, and I really appreciate her taking the time to meet up with me.  She is an absolute breath of fresh air, which is needed in this hot air kind of place (thankyouverymuch, Congress!).  I loved when we were able to sit down at Austin Grill and just enjoy our yummy lunches al fresco (yay for outdoor seating!).  Anyhow, only regret?  Not grabbing a photo of the two of us!!!  Next time, for sure!

Okay, that's it for tonight, I really hope everyone is having a great evening!

OOTDs: RIP Ugly Sweater and Other Lost Outfits of 2013.

Good Saturday night!  So looking through my photo albums on my computer tonight, I realized there were a staggering number of ootd photos from 2013 that never saw the light of day on the blog.  Some of the outfits, well, meh, but some of these I really did want to show off.  Now that it is *embarrassingly* nearly six months after these were taken, I figured showing them off late at night on a beautiful Saturday in May may lessen my embarrassment a touch.  Not much, but maybe some of you will be viewing these after having had a drink or two and will be all, "eh, she got 'em up!"

You saw a bunch of the ootds from NYC (this was from late November 2013) mixed in with other posts (mainly J. Crew and Boden review posts).  This was actually my favorite shot from the entire trip, I thought my stepmom did a great job of taking the photo.  Anyhow, most of that outfit is Anthropologie and J. Crew, with some Target shoes thrown in for comfort.

I believe I wore this outfit subbing one of the days last year.  The Boden Sarah dress will always be one of my favorites, and the extra length on this one makes it very Catholic school appropriate.

I can't even tell you what we were doing that day, but I will tell you CW dressed herself entirely, and it appears we were both happy with our choice of hot pink clothing.

CW had some event at her school we needed to go to, and I really wanted to wear my cord deer and birdie printed shirt dress (Southward Stop, thank you Lou!) from Anthropologie I had bought off a blog friend.  Of course it was insanely cold that day, but I scoffed at real outerwear instead choosing to suffer with a thinner plaid J. Crew jacket.  The snood and ugly Target gloves helped, but not really.  I learned my lesson after winter decided to continuously laugh in my face this year by never going away.  My coats haven't ever seen this much action.

This here is another 2013 subbing ensemble.  I LOVE this Nanette Lepore top so much.  I last wore it pregnant.  I can't say I notice a huge difference in fit between the two times.  Hmm.  :-)

I did wear a big old Boden coat, gloves, hat, and a scarf, but that photo turned out really bad.  So, yeah, just imagine it.

RIP Ugly Sweater.  RIP.  Thanks, Mr. Dina for putting my beloved ugly farmyard fair isle sweater from J. Crew in the dryer on hot heat.  The sweater now is at home in CW's closet, seeing as she is the only one small enough to wear it.  Sadness. Sob!

Let's end here, with one of my favorite ootds from last year.  Very festive (worn to see the kids get their photo taken with Santa), yet chic enough to work in the non-Christmas season.  Love that Bella coat, and for all my super moaning over the awful cold and snow this last winter, it did mean my pretties that hide away for nine months of the year did get to help elevate my outfits for a few months more than usual.

Okay, that's it.  If you are drinking, have a sip for me, pretty please.  ;-)

OOTDs: Subbing in Decent Weather.

Hey, all!  It has been nearly three weeks since my last set of ootds.  That's quite a bit of time.  I love writing up the Boden sale alerts and new arrivals posts, but I find the ootds keep me on my toes, style-wise, since if I take a photo of it for the blog, I try a little harder in the morning to look put together.  Admittedly knowing that I wouldn't be publishing as many ootds in the last month has seen me being a bit of a slacker in my fashion, lol.  All good, of course, 'cause ultimately, who cares, but still, I look forward to getting back to it already.  :-)

These ootds will not include an anecdote.  Back when I was teaching full time and blogging (way way back in 2009), I tried hard to not tell stories of my days as a teacher and keep the posts about why I chose what I did for that day.  So now that I am able to more fully revive my teaching outfits (I have a backlog of about twenty spread throughout this year of subbing), I want to keep the outfits to why I like them for teaching, and keep quiet on anything that actually happened while I was teaching.

I have changed my style since 2009, I am less bright colors/patterns/crazy combos than I was back then, but in teaching, I still like to "grab" the kids attention by wearing something bright and/or patterned.  Although I am not Ms. Frizzle 100% now, I still could definitely see comparisons being made.  (Especially in my pink apple print dress, which will be published in another post.)

Okay, here goes!

Excuse my bit of wayward hair up there.  Bad hair, bad!

Day: Thursday, April 10, 2014.

Where: Substitute Teaching 7th Grade.

Ease of Wear: (4 of 5 stars--5 being the most easy to wear.) All the pieces worked well together and the shirt even stayed tucked into the cute J. Crew Factory skirt, which I definitely consider a bonus.  It was *just* chilly enough that I needed to wear a heavier cardigan, and this very old school J. Crew cardigan (2006) fit the bill.  The skirt is a stretchy cotton sateen and besides a little wrinkling, kept its shape and moved with my body and not against it.  The Target wedges pinched a bit by the end of the day, but I also didn't sit much, so that may be on me and not them.

Cool Factor: (3.5 of 5 stars--5 being the coolest--for both outfits.) Very pretty and conservative look.  I look like I am off to work, but not anyplace too stuffy.  The silhouette flatters my frame, too.

I had tried to figure out how to style the cardigan.  Upon receiving after purchasing it from ebay a few years back, I would wear it, but never liked the way I styled it.  Finally I have found a way to wear it and really show off its darling ruffles and very feminine style.

Day: Friday, April 11, 2014.

Where: Substitute Teaching 7th Grade, which did include a trip to the church twice for Mass and the Stations of the Cross.

Ease of Wear: (4 of 5 stars--5 being the most easy to wear.) Ah, the first edition of the very popular Boden Riviera Shirt Dress.  There is a version of it this spring (here), but I prefer the Gingham Shirt Dress (here and a very brief review of it here).  I wore this very dress the very first time I brought Rex to be evaluated for placement in kindergarten, and I still love it for exactly that kind of use, when I need to feel pretty but more covered up.  Also, with the way the flipping weather has been, it is nice to be able to wear something breezy and springy for once.  (The weather was in the low 70s--not warm enough to wear sleeveless but nice enough not to wear a jacket!)

Cool Factor: (4 of 5 stars--5 being the coolest--for both outfits.) It is very easy to overdo it when styling this kind of dress.  By wearing simpler flats, a basic bag, and a simple necklace, I allowed the dress to be the star, and that makes this look cool.

Day: Thursday, March 6, 2014.

Where: Substitute Teaching (can't remember the grade).

Ease of Wear: (3.5 of 5 stars--5 being the most easy to wear.) This dress has a fuller skirt and a slimmer bodice, so it is perfect for my body.  I dinged a couple of points for the fabric (this is a rayon woven that is a bid rough feeling) and the weird very short sleeves (Boden's sleeves usually run long, too).

Cool Factor: (4 of 5 stars--5 being the coolest--for both outfits.) Again, another nice covered up outfit that still manages to be less frumpy.  I think the ankle boots and dark tights make it look modern, but any more height on the ankle on those boots, I would easily become a school marm in the early 20th century.  :-)

This whole outfit would look way better, though, if I had my current haircut.

Okay, that's all for now.  I am glad I was able to sit down and write about the outfits again.

Have a great Thursday!
